My seven-year-old daughter is currently obsessed with unicorns, which is why it came as no surprise when she asked for a unicorn-themed birthday party this year. After throwing her a unicorn birthday party a couple of weeks ago, I compiled a list of some of the best unicorn party ideas to help you throw yours!

1. Unicorn Party Invitations
When planning a unicorn birthday party, first start with some unicorn-themed party invitations. This lets the guests know what kind of party you will be hosting.
You can get some adorable unicorn ones like these on Amazon or what I like to do is order a unicorn invitation template off Etsy. Then, edit them with the party details and print them on cardstock like this.

2. Unicorn Party Decorations
When it comes to unicorn party ideas, decorations are key! They can really change the atmosphere of the party! When throwing birthday parties for my kids, I like to get balloons, banners, and backdrops to match the party theme.

One of the top birthday party decorations are balloons and there are some really cute unicorn balloons for throwing a unicorn party.
Some of the balloons we got were these standing unicorn balloons. They were definitely a hit. If I could do it over, I would have bought more of these. I always like to get a number balloon for the age my kids are turning so we also got this 40-inch number 7 unicorn balloon.
We did not use helium for our balloons and instead filled them with air using our air compressor. Then, just use some painter’s tape and stick them to the wall or hang them from the ceiling.
They lasted for many days (and games of keepy-uppy).

I love birthday party backdrops because they make great decorations and are also a perfect spot for guests to take pictures!

3. Unicorn Party Supplies
When throwing a unicorn birthday party a fun way to add to the birthday theme is to get unicorn party supplies such as unicorn plates, unicorn bowls, unicorn cups, pink and purple silverware, unicorn napkins, etc.
We love the Glad for Kids brand of party supplies because they are so much more durable like these adorable unicorn plates! We used these Glad for Kids unicorn snack bowls for serving fruit but they could be used for any snack or side you plan to serve at your unicorn party.

4. Unicorn Party Food
If you really want to wow your guests, make some unicorn-themed foods. Seriously, how cute are these unicorn milkshakes?!
Another fun idea would be to use a unicorn cookie cutter like this and cut out unicorn-shaped watermelon pieces or sandwiches. The kids would love these unicorn party snacks!

Another cool unicorn-themed food would be making rainbow fruit and veggie platters or rainbow fruit skewers. You could also make a pink/purple fruit dip.
If you are throwing a morning or early afternoon party then unicorn pancakes would definitely be a hit. This could also be a fun unicorn party activity where the kids make their own unicorn by using two pancakes for the face/muzzle, bacon for the ears, blueberries for the eyes, and whipped cream and sprinkles for the mane.

Whether you are serving a cake or cupcakes at the party, there are many ways you could incorporate the theme. You can have a unicorn cake made like the ones above.

Kids love party games so why not make some unicorn-themed games to play at the party?! My daughter and her friends played this unicorn bingo game that I made (there are 25 free printable bingo boards), DIY unicorn horn ring toss, and Pin the Horn on the Unicorn at her party!

8. Unicorn Piñata
This unicorn party idea is sure to be a favorite because what child doesn’t love candy?! There are some cute unicorn piñatas on Amazon like this one.
Then, fill it up with a mix of candies. Hang it up at the party and have the kids take turns hitting the piñata with a wooden stick while being blindfolded.
When the piñata breaks open, the kids can rush and collect the candy off the ground. Whatever candy they collect, they get to keep!
9. Unicorn Party Activities
Another way to keep the kids occupied during the party is with some unicorn party activities.
At my daughter’s party we bought this giant unicorn coloring poster and placed it over the table. We laid out some crayons and colored pencils and the girls had a great time coloring the table cloth!
Another unicorn activity idea you could do is create a unicorn obstacle course using rainbow hula hoops, pool noodles, soccer cones covered in gold glitter (unicorn horns), and balance blocks.
You could also throw a unicorn movie party and have the kids watch a unicorn show or movie such as Unicorn Academy, Mia and Me, or Wish Upon a Unicorn.

10. Unicorn Party Favors
Goodie bags are always a fun way to send guests home. I picked up this 20-pack of unicorn goodie bags. What I loved about these unicorn favor bags is that they would not just get thrown away immediately, and were a part of the favor.
Inside the bag I put these Goodie Girl unicorn cookies, some of these unicorn stickers, and a scrunchie.

I also made these unicorn party favor tags that went perfect with the scrunchies. If you’d like to use these favors as well simply download them below and print off as many as you need. Then, write in the birthday boy or girls name on each favor tag.
Next, cut them out and fold them in half. Afterwards, slide the scrunchies on (these are the scrunchies we used) and staple the two ends of the favor tag together.

11. Unicorn Photo Booth
This was my favorite of the unicorn party ideas. Transform an old TV box or moving box into a stunning party photo booth.
Last year, I made the popular Barbie party box (that you can check out here), but after the party, I didn’t have it in me to throw it away so I decided to store it for another time.
When my daughter decided on a unicorn party, I decided to pull it back out and transform it into a unicorn photobooth, and it was a big hit.
If you’re starting from scratch this template has all the dimensions you need to build the unicorn photobooth that I made.
After you’ve taped your cardboard together, the next step is wrapping the entire box (inside and out). I left the inside of the box pink and then used this heavy-duty purple Jam paper for the outside. Then, I hung these pink streamers down in the back of the box.

Next, I printed off some unicorn eyes and taped them onto the box. Lastly, I made a unicorn horn by cutting out a large rectangle from cardboard. I covered it with this gold glitter sticker paper. Then, I cut the triangle to be more wavy and unicorn horn-like.
