UNICORN PARTY GAMES

We just threw my 7-year-old daughter a unicorn birthday party last weekend and the girls had so much fun with the unicorn party games and activities. Now that the party is over, I have compiled a list of some of the best unicorn activities to do at your unicorn birthday party.

These unicorn party games range from unicorn bingo and unicorn ring toss to pin the horn on the unicorn and more!

After reading about these unicorn party games & activities, you will be so prepared to throw your child the most magical party!

This post is all about unicorn party games.

Unicorn Party Games

1. Unicorn Bingo

Who doesn’t love bingo? I love this game because it can be played by kids and adults of all ages making it one of the best unicorn party games.

For my daughter’s party, I made this adorable unicorn bingo game that you can download for free. It comes with 25 unique bingo cards making it perfect for a large party!

The girls had a lot of fun playing this game, especially because there were small prizes for the winners.

2. Pin the Horn on the Unicorn

This was most definitely a hit. Even after the game, kids wanted to keep trying to see how close they could get to pinning the horn on the unicorn!

You can either get a pin the horn on the unicorn game like this off Amazon or you could make your own which is what I did.

To make my own, I first enlarged a black and white unicorn and printed it on six pages (you can download this free printable below).

Then, I cut out the unicorn and taped the pages together.

Next, I put large paper like this over top of the unicorn and traced it. I used the Melissa & Doug Easel paper we had at home, but you could also use any large paper or poster board (as long as it is thin enough to see through for tracing).

Afterwards, I went over it with a thick Sharpie marker like this.

Then, I cropped the unicorn horn and made copies. My kids helped me decorate the horns. We did each one differently so it would be easier to figure out whose horn was whose during the game. You could also just write the names on the back.

After decorating the horns we cut them out.

To play the game, we had everyone choose a horn. Next, we placed a piece of rolled tape onto the back of each horn.

Then, we put a blindfold on each player and spun them in a circle five times. After being spun they had to place their horn where they thought it should go.

After everyone has had a turn, see who got their horn the closest to the actual unicorn’s horn. Whoever gets the closest is the winner!

It’s fun to do small prizes for the winner(s). We ended up giving three prizes because there were three horns all very close and we couldn’t decide whose was the closest. This is why I recommend having a few extra prizes on hand in case this happens.

If you don’t have extra prizes, you could also do a face-off for the people who were the closest until you have a winner.

3. Unicorn Ring Toss

unicorn birthday party games

This unicorn ring toss game was fun and relatively easy to make.

First, I got a tall cardboard box. We had just replaced a matress in our house so I had the perfect box to use. If you don’t have any tall boxes, you can also tape smaller ones together.

Then, wrap the box in white easel paper (the same paper used to make the pin the horn on the unicorn game).

When wrapping, leave the back side of the box unwrapped because you will need a way to reach into the box to secure the horn. I made this mistake when making the unicorn ring toss and had to unwrap it.

You may also need to cut a small hole in the box to reach in. My box had handles that I could fit my hand into, so I didn’t have to worry about that. If your box does not, you will need to cut a hole just large enough for your hand/arm.

After wrapping three sides and the top, cut out unicorn eyes, ears, and a crown and tape them on.

To make the horn for the ring toss, I used a 7-inch soccer cone like this. If you buy one, make sure it has small holes around the base because you’ll use those to secure it to the top.

Next, tape gold tissue paper around the cone and secure it to the top of the box with zip ties.

To do this, poke holes in the four corners of the soccer cone and then another hole near each of those holes for the zip tie to come back up (8 holes in total).

After poking the holes, thread a zip tie through each corner of the cone and then back up through the other hole. This is where you’ll need to be able to reach into the box. Next, tighten the zip tie and cut off the excess.

After securing the horn, cover the back of the box with white paper, and your ring toss game is complete.

4. Unicorn Scavenger Hunt

unicorn party activities

A unicorn scavenger hunt is one of the easiest unicorn party games to play. This is one I had on hand in case I had needed another party game. To play, you can print off my free unicorn scavenger hunt printable. Then, cut out each of the unicorn pictures.

Hide the unicorn pictures around the party area, either inside or out, and see if the kids can find all 12 items.

You could also split the kids into teams and hide more than one copy and see which team can find all 12 first.

5. Roll a Unicorn

unicorn party

This dice game is another fun unicorn party game for kids. To summarize, you roll a dice and whatever number you roll corresponds with a unicorn part (horn, hair, ears, eyes, crown, flower/bow). The first player to complete their unicorn first wins!

You can either have players draw/color their unicorn parts or you can download and print my free printable Roll a Unicorn game.

If you have 8 or less guests, you only need one copy of my printable unicorn game. If you have 9-16 guests you will need two copies, 17-24 guests you will need three copies, etc.

Once you’ve printed your copies, then cut out all of the unicorn parts (horn, eyes, ears, crown, hair, flower/bow).

6. Unicorn Piñata

A piñata is always a party favorite for kids because what kid doesn’t love candy?! Find a unicorn pinata like this cute one off Amazon. Then, fill it with your favorite candies.

At the party, hang the unicorn piñata from the ceiling. Determine how many swings each participant will get. Then, line the guests up. Blindfold the first player, spin them a couple of times, and give them a wooden stick to swing at the piñata.

When someone hits the piñata and breaks it open, the kids can all run and collect the candy.

You may find that some piñatas have strings for the guests to pull, with one of them being the “lucky one” that releases the candy. These are great for the younger kids who may be too young for the wooden stick version.

7. Unicorn Guessing Game

8. Unicorn Photo Booth

rainbow unicorn party activities

This was by far my favorite unicorn party activity. I just LOVE photo booths for birthday parties! It’s a fun party activity for kids and a great way to get birthday party pictures.

Last year my daughter had a Barbie party so I made the Barbie party box. It was such a hit at the party that I just couldn’t throw it away so I decided to keep the Barbie photo booth and store it for future parties.

When my daughter told me she wanted a unicorn party this year, I decided to turn the Barbie party box into a cute unicorn photo booth!

unicorn themed party activities

To transform it into a unicorn theme I covered it with this heavy duty purple wrapping paper and then taped eyes on and made a horn.

To make the horn, I just used cardboard to cut out a large triangle. Then, I covered it with gold glitter sticker paper. Afterward, I cut the triangle to make it wavy and more “unicorn horn” looking.

10. Watch a Unicorn Show or Movie

Make it a movie party and watch a unicorn show or movie such as Unicorn Academy, Mia and Me, or Wish Upon a Unicorn.

You could even have fun unicorn drinks and snacks to give it a movie theater feel. If you are looking for unicorn-themed drinks and snacks, here are some fun ones:

11. Unicorn Coloring Tablecloth

This was a HUGE hit. I found this super adorable unicorn coloring tablecloth on Amazon and put it over the table. I laid out crayons and colored pencils and during any downtime, the girls enjoyed coloring this!

You could also just set out various unicorn coloring sheets.

12. Unicorn and Rainbow Painting

unicorn party activity ideas

We didn’t end up doing this at my daughter’s party, but it was something I was considering and thought looked fairly simple. Have the kids paint unicorns and/or rainbows.

To do this unicorn party activity, pick up wooden unicorn cutouts like this, paint palettes, paint, and paint brushes. Then, have the kids get creative and paint their cutouts that they get to take home when the party is done.

Instead of the wood cutouts you could also pick up canvases and have the kids paint pictures of rainbows!

I recommend doing a painting activity at the beginning of the party, that way their paintings have time to dry and they can take them home after the party!

13. Make Unicorn Friendship Bracelets

Pick up a few unicorn bracelet-making kits like this and set them out for the kids to use. They will enjoy making bracelets for each other to take home! It’s sure to be a fun time.

I hope these unicorn party games and activities help you throw a magical party for your child. I would love to hear all about it!
