Are you looking for a printable ocean animal matching game? Look no further, this is a fun memory game your littles will enjoy!

I LOVE matching games! They are such a fun way to help children develop their memory, focus, and attention to detail. In the past, I’ve made other matching games: dinosaur matching game, Easter egg matching game, Halloween memory game, and Valentine’s Day memory game!
One of my kiddos has been learning about ocean animals at school and took a field trip to the aquarium this week. This gave me the idea to create an ocean animal memory game for kids to play when learning about underwater animals.
Whether you are a teacher working on an ocean animal lesson or the parent of a water loving kiddo, you’ll want to check out this ocean animal matching game.
This post is all about an ocean animal matching game.

Supplies
- Ocean Animal Matching Game Printable
- Cardstock Paper
- Printer
- Scissors
- Laminator
- Laminating Sheets
Directions
First, you’ll need to print off the ocean animal memory game at the bottom of the post. You will need to use cardstock like this for printing so that the underwater animal images do not show through.
If you don’t have cardstock, you could try taping multiple sheets of paper together (after you’ve printed) so that you can’t see through the cards.

Then, you’ll want to laminate the ocean animal matching game cards. This is very important if you plan to play this game with young children because it’ll allow you to reuse the cards and keep them from crumpling or ripping.
If you’d like to laminate all you have to do is put the ocean animal matching game printable (before cutting) into a laminating sheet like this. Then, slide the laminating sheet through a laminator. Once the printable is laminated, cut out each memory card.

After all 36 memory cards are cut out, you are ready to play!
How To Play

To play this ocean animal memory game, you’ll first need to flip over every card so you cannot see the picture. Then, mix up all of the cards.
Next, arrange the cards into a grid so that there are 6 rows of 6.
Once your board is set up, have the youngest player go first. This person will pick two cards and flip them over. If the cards match, then that player gets to keep the cards and go again.
If the ocean animal cards do not match, then they flip the cards back over, and it becomes the next player’s turn.
The game continues clockwise until all of the cards have been matched up. Whoever has the most ocean animal matches at the end of the game wins!
