Now that we have entered into the new year, Easter is just around the corner. If you are like me you probably are looking for fun ideas for Easter with your kids. In years past, I have created an Easter scavenger hunt, Easter bingo cards and an Easter egg memory game.

This year, I decided to make some new Easter games for my family to play and to also share with you. One of these games is an Easter dice game. It is simple, can be played with any number of participants, and is a lot of fun for everyone!

In this post, you will learn how to play and set up this Easter dice game, and get your free printable game sheets as well.

This post is all about an Easter dice game.

Easter Dice Game

In this post, you will learn how to play three different Easter dice games. There is an Easter egg exchange, an Easter egg dice game, as well as, an Easter candy dice game.

1. Easter Egg Exchange

An Easter egg exchange is great for kids because everyone participating starts with one egg and also finishes the game with one egg. Throughout the game, eggs will get swapped, passed, and traded so you will most likely leave with an egg you didn’t start with.

This Easter egg exchange is great to play after an Easter egg hunt. Kids can choose one of their eggs and bring it to the Easter dice game.

Before starting the Easter dice game, decide how long it will last. Will it stop after 10 minutes, or will everyone get 5 turns, etc.?

Once the game’s length has been determined, decide who will go first. When it comes to games, we usually have the youngest go first, but you can also have everyone roll. Whoever gets the biggest number gets to start the game.

Before starting, let everyone go around and open their eggs to show what is inside. After everyone has seen what is inside each egg, close them back up.

Then, the first player will roll the die. Whatever number they roll, they do the corresponding direction with their egg.

For example, if they roll a six, they will trade their egg with the player on their left. Then, the game continues clockwise.

Keep playing until the time runs out or the number of rounds have been completed. Whichever egg each player has at that time is the one they get to keep.

2. Easter Egg Dice Game

Another version of Easter dice is this Easter egg dice game.

Before the game, fill a bunch of plastic Easter eggs with candy, coins, toys, gift cards, etc. The number of eggs you fill will be based on how many people will be participating in the game.

Once the eggs are filled, decide which version of the game you would like to play. There are two Easter egg dice game printables. The only difference between the two printables is what happens when you roll a three. One version has a “skip turn” for rolling a three and the other has an “open any egg”.

Decide which of these you want and then download and print the Easter dice game off.

When it comes time to play, put all of the filled Easter eggs in the middle of the table. Next, determine how long the game will last. A fun way to play is to go until someone has 5 eggs (or X amount of eggs).

You can also play with a timer and once the timer chimes, then the game ends. After you’ve figured out how the game will end, then decide who will go first by either rolling the die or choosing.

Next, have every player choose one egg from the center of the table. Then, go around the table and have each player open up their egg, show it to the group, and then close their egg back up.

Now, let the game begin. Have the first player roll the die. On the printable, you will see each number has a corresponding direction to do with their egg.

For instance, if the player rolls a five, then they will take one egg from the middle of the table. When they take the egg, they will open it up, show the group what is inside, and then close the egg and set it next to their other egg.

Then, play continues clockwise and the next player will roll the die. If the next player were to roll a four. They can trade their egg with any player. This means they could trade their one egg with the player who has two eggs.

If someone rolls a three, it will either skip their turn or allow them to open any egg up depending on which version you chose.

If you chose the “open any egg up” version then that player would get to open an egg that is either out in play (can be anyone’s egg) that they may have forgotten or open a new one from the middle. They do NOT have to show the whole group what is inside.

Once they have looked at what is inside, they will shut the egg and place it back where it was and the game continues clockwise.

Play until the timer goes off or someone has X amount of eggs. At that time, everyone goes home with the eggs they have in front of them.

Because some players may end up with only one egg while others have four or five, this game is best for adults or older kids.

*Another fun twist you could add to this game is putting one large egg in the game that has a larger prize such as a gift card that everyone is trying to get.

You also could play where you don’t have to show the group the eggs you draw at the beginning or from the middle and then put an IOU (I owe you) note inside one regular egg for a larger prize they can cash in for after the game.

Then, during the game, everyone is trying to figure out which egg has that prize and trying to get it.

3. Easter Candy Dice Game

This is another version of the Easter dice game. Put a large pile of Easter candy in the center of the table. Determine how long the game will go on for. You can either set a timer or play until someone has X amount of candy (eg. 10 pieces).

Let each player choose three pieces from the middle pile to start the game off. Next, determine who will roll the die first. That player will roll the die and do whatever the corresponding direction is.

For example, if they were to roll a two, they would trade one piece of candy with any player of their choosing. This means, if they want that Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg that another player has then they can trade it for any piece of candy from their pile.

Then, the play continues clockwise until there is a winner or until the timer goes off. When the game ends, everyone gets to keep the candy they have in front of them.
