If you are looking for Thanksgiving Scattergories, then you’ve come to the right spot! This FREE game will bring loads of fun to your Thanksgiving gathering.

Fall is just around the corner, which means the holidays are drawing near. If you are anything like me, you are already searching for fun games and activities to play with your family and friends.
In years past, I’ve created games and activities for Thanksgiving, such as Thanksgiving bingo, Thanksgiving scavenger hunt clues, Thanksgiving charades, and Turkey Day jokes, among others. This year, I have created a printable Thanksgiving Scattergories game.
If you like the regular Scattergories board game, then you will like this Thanksgiving-themed one as well. If you’ve never played Scattergories, it is a fun word game that is played with a group of people, making it perfect for your family gathering or Friendsgiving!
The object of the game is to come up with unique answers to a set of categories, all starting with the same letter. These Thanksgiving Scattergories range from “Foods You’d Never Serve On Thanksgiving” and “Words That Describe Fall Weather” to “Things You Are Thankful For,” “Things You Do Thanksgiving Morning,” and more!
This printable game comes with everything you need to play, from multiple Thanksgiving word cards, six Thanksgiving-themed lists, and a score card for tallying points.

Thanksgiving Themed Scattergories
This Thanksgiving version of Scattergories is very similar to the Hasbro Scattergories board game. The main difference is that all the lists have to do with Thanksgiving. In addition, the letters are predetermined using Thanksgiving words such as pie, give, feast, thanks, family, turkey, and more!
Hasbro Scattergories
If you own the actual Scattergories board game, and prefer to use the letter dice included in the game, I made a blank template for you to fill in the letters that get rolled. I also have a printable with all of the alphabet letters if you don’t have the letter dice and would rather draw letters for each round.

What You Need For Thanksgiving Scattergories
- Printer
- Cardstock and Regular 8.5×11 Printer Paper
- Thanksgiving Scattergories Printable

- Writing Utensils
- Optional – Letter Dice
Directions for the Printable Scattergories
First, print off the Scattergories printable at the bottom of this post. I highly recommend printing the Thanksgiving Scattergories lists on cardstock like this or laminating them so they hold up better and can be used again in the future.
Cardstock
Decide which Thanksgiving word(s) you want to use. There are three, four, five, and six-letter words to choose from.
- 3 Letter Words: Eat, Pie
- 4 Letter Words: Corn, Give, Home, Meal
- 5 Letter Words: Gravy, Bread, Table, Feast
- 6 Letter Words: Thanks, Family, Turkey

Each letter from these words will be a new round, which means that the six-letter words will make for a longer game. Whichever game sheet you choose, you’ll need to print off a copy for each player. You’ll also need to print off a copy of the six lists for each player and cut them out.
If you don’t want to use the predetermined letters, you can print off the blank card. Then, either use a letter dice or the alphabet letters printable. Then, before each round, roll the die or draw a letter out of a bowl to determine the letter for that round.
You’ll also find a scorecard in the printable so make sure to print it off because this will come in handy for keeping score.

How To Play Thanksgiving Scattergories
Choose a Thanksgiving Scattergories card and hand one out to each player. Then, choose a list to play with. Make sure each player has the same list (they are numbered) and places it on the left side of their playing card.

Next, set a timer for 3 minutes. Each player will write down a word that starts with that round’s letter that matches the category theme. For example, if the round letter is “T” and the first category says “Things You Do Thanksgiving Morning,” you could write Turkey Trot.

Then, you would move on to the next category. Continue down the column, thinking of words that match the categories that start with a T.
When the time is up, everyone goes around and shares their answers for each category. If nobody has the same answer as you, then you will receive one point for that category.
Add everyone’s points to the scorecard. Next, move on to the second letter. You can either choose to use the same list with the new letter or change the list.
