The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and if you are anything like me, you are searching for fun games and activities your kids can do.
In the past, I’ve created fun 4th of July games such as a 4th of July scavenger hunt, a red, white and blue candy dice game, 4th of July charades, and an Independence Day bingo! This year, I thought it would be fun to make a printable 4th of July word scramble for my kids to do on the fourth.
On this printable 4th of July word scramble, you must unscramble each holiday word to find the answer to the Independence Day joke.
This 4th of July word scramble is sure to be a lot of fun!

4th of July Word Scramble

Directions
The only thing you need to do to play this word puzzle is print off a copy at the bottom of the post and grab a writing utensil.
Then, try to unscramble the letters to figure out what the holiday words are. Once you have figured out the holiday word, spell it in the boxes. Then, transfer the star letter to the bottom of the page.
Below you can see an example of how to do this word puzzle. The letters “TPAROTI” do not spell a word, but the letters can be rearranged to spell the word “patriot.”
After figuring that out, you would write patriot in the boxes. In this example, you would then bring the letter “O” down to the bottom and put it in the corresponding star spot to help solve the answer to the joke.
Once you have unscrambled all of the words, you will be able to read the answer to the Independence Day joke at the bottom of the puzzle.
When to play this word scramble?
This word puzzle can be done pretty much anywhere, either by yourself or with a group. You can do these at home, at a Fourth of July party, or even in the car (it’s a perfect road trip activity if you travel over for the holiday).
Fourth of July Word Scramble #1
The first word scramble on the printable has 8 words to unscramble. These words are slightly more difficult than the second word scramble. The words are 6-8 letters long.
The Independence Day joke to solve on this word scramble is “What do you get when you cross a dinosaur with fireworks?”
4th of July Word Scramble / Coloring Sheet
The second word scramble is slightly easier, with words to unscramble ranging from 3 to 5 letters long. This printable word scramble also doubles as a coloring sheet so kids can color while they unscramble the words.
On this printable, they will figure out the answer to the joke “What is the best beverage for the 4th of July?”
