Are you looking for a printable tic tac toe game for your next road trip? Look no further, this DIY tic-tac-toe is a great game for kids to play while traveling.
Traveling with kids can be HARD, especially when the kids start to get bored. This is why I pack so many things for my kids to do when we take our long family road trip each year.
One of the things I make sure to pack is lots of paper and a few pencils so my kids can play tic-tac-toe. To eliminate the need to pack lots of paper, I created this printable tic-tac-toe game that is the perfect on the go game.
This DIY game is super easy to make and can be played over and over which will keep the kids entertained for a long time.

Supplies
- Printer
- Printer Paper
- Tic Tac Toe Printable
- Laminator
- Laminating Sheets
- Scissors
- Self Adhesive Dots
Directions
The first step is to print off the tic tac toe game on the bottom of the page. On this printable, there are three pages. The first page is just the classic tic tac toe game with 9 game boards.
The second and third pages are for the DIY tic-tac-toe game.
If you choose to use the first page instead of the DIY tic tac toe game I recommend printing off a few copies so they have multiple game boards to play.
To make the DIY printable tic tac toe game you will need to laminate the 2nd and 3rd pages of the printable.
To do this, place each page into a laminating sheet like this. Next, run them through a laminator.
After the printables are laminated, cut out each individual car. There will be 6 yellow and 6 blue cars.

Next, grab the tic-tac-toe board that you laminated and place a hook dot inside each of the tic-tac-toe squares like the photo below.
Afterward, place a loop dot on the back of each vehicle square you previously cut out. Try to place the dots as close to the center as possible.
You will notice there are a few extra car pieces and then game board spots. This is so that you have extra in case you lose any. To store these extras, I just put a few hook dots on the back of the printable and stuck them there.
Now you are all set and ready for your road trip. No more loose paper and pencils to play tic-tac-toe on the go!
How To Play
This printable tic tac toe is just like the classic game it just uses two different cars instead of X’s and O’s.
Separate the color vehicle pieces and give each person a color. Then, have one player go first by placing one of their cars on the board. Next, the second player will place one of their cars on the board. The play continues going back and forth.
The object of the game is to get three in a row either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The first player to do so wins. If neither player gets three in a row then the game is a draw and you can clear the board and play again.
