My oldest daughter is an avid reader. This past year, she got into the Wings of Fire book series and has become a huge fan. By “huge fan,” I mean this girl has read all 16 books in the series more than once, as well as all the graphic novels and companion books. She is an expert when it comes to anything Wings of Fire.
Unsurprisingly, when her birthday rolled around, she requested a Wings of Fire-themed party. Since I myself have not read the books, I knew she was going to have to help me plan the Wings of Fire party game.
As most of her friends had only made it through a few of the books in the series, I didn’t want to create any game that would have spoilers for later books, so we settled on making a Wings of Fire party game centered around the first book.
This Wings of Fire party game involves teamwork, dragon eggs, and tons of fun!

Wings of Fire Party Game

The Wings of Fire party game that we did had two parts. These two parts can each be played independently of the other. You can choose to do either one or both of them as we did! Game 1 is solving the Prophecy Code, and Game 2 is a dragon egg exchange.
Wings of Fire Party Game 1
The first Wings of Fire book that this game is based on is called The Dragonet Prophecy. Both kids who have read the book and those who have not can play this game. For those who have read the book, the prophecy is not the exact same as in the book, so it will not give them an advantage.
In this party game, the first team to solve the prophecy correctly, wins. To solve it, you must find all 4 parts of the prophecy and the prophecy code. Once you have found these items, you will use the code to solve each prophecy card.
Wings of Fire Game 1 Supplies
- Dragon Tribe Cards (free printable)
- Prophecy Code (free printable)
- Prophecy Cards (free printable)
- Scissors
- Writing Utensil
- Colored Rubber Bands
- Dragon Eggs
- Prizes
Wings of Fire Party Game 1 Setup
Print off the dragon tribe cards and cut them out. Sort them by their tribes, and set them aside until the party.
Next, print off the prophecy code and prophecy cards. You will need one copy of these for each team. Cut out the cards and set them on piles for each team. Make sure each team has prophecy card #1, #2, #3, #4 and a prophecy code.
Next, take the first team’s prophecy cards and roll them up like a scroll. Then, place a colored rubber band around it. I just used hair rubber bands like these, and they worked wonderfully.
- SeaWings – Blue Rubber Band
- SkyWings – Red Rubber Band
- RainWings – Green Rubber Band
- SandWings – Yellow Rubber Band
Once you have all five papers for each team rolled up with rubber bands, get out your dragon eggs. These are the ones I bought off Amazon but you can pick out whichever dragon egg colors and patterns you like.
After you have gotten out your eggs, you’ll need to remove all of the dragons from the eggs and place them in a basket or on a tray. I set the tray aside and used the dragons as prizes for the game.
After the dragons are removed from the eggs, put one scroll in each egg at random. If you are doing 4 teams, then you will need 20 eggs (4 prophecy cards and 1 prophecy code per team).
Once your eggs are filled with the cards you are ready to play the Wings of Fire Party Game #1.
How to Play the Wings of Fire Party Game #1
Split into Teams
When all of the party guests have arrived, split them into teams using the dragon tribe cards. I would recommend teams of 3-4 kids. Place the number of cards you need into a bowl.
We had 16 kids show up, so I placed 4 cards of each tribe into a bowl. Then, each child drew out a tribe card and that was the team they were on. The tribes are also color-coded so the team knows what color they need to find.
Time to Play
Place all of the dragon eggs on a table like this and form team lines a distance away. If the weather permits, I recommend doing this outside so there is plenty of space for running.
To play, the first person in line from each team runs to the table and chooses an egg. Then, they will run back to their team and open up the egg. Make sure they do not open the egg up before they get back to their group.
When they open the egg, they will look at the rubber band inside. If the color matches their team’s color, then they get to keep that egg and the next person in line will run and grab another egg.
If the rubber band does not match their team’s color. The next player in line will run the egg back to the table and grab a new one. They will bring it back to their team and open it up. If it matches they keep it if it doesn’t the next player brings it back.
Each team will keep repeating this process until they have all five of their eggs. Once a team has found all five of their eggs, they can take the rubber bands off and open up their prophecy cards and code. The team can begin solving the prophecy cards.
Do note that they will need writing utensils for this part.
How to Win
The first team to successfully solve the four prophecy cards wins the game!!
For a prize, we let the winning team pick first from the tray of dragons. The second place team picked next and so on and so forth. Everyone ended up with a dragon, but the winners got the first choice of colors. You can also offer different prizes for the winning team.
Fun Added Challenge – I had bought a pack of 24 dragon eggs, so I included the four extra eggs that didn’t have prophecy cards or codes. If a team opened an egg with nothing inside, the entire team had to do ten jumping jacks before continuing.

Wings of Fire Party Game 2
The second Wings of Fire game is a dragon egg exchange game. This dice-rolling party game involves swapping prizes when you roll doubles.
Wings of Fire Game 2 Supplies
- Dragon Eggs (can be the same eggs used in the previous game)
- A Prize for Each Person at the Party
- Number Cards (free printable)
- Scissors
- 2 Dice
Wings of Fire Party Game 2 Setup
The first thing you will need to do is buy a small prize for each person attending the party. One of the best places I found to get these prizes is Five Below. I also found a few prizes at Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, and Ross.
To make the game more interesting, I recommend getting a wide variety of items. Once you have all of the prizes, print off two copies of the free printable number cards (or just make your own).
Then, cut the cards out of both printables. Tape one of the numbers to a prize and place the other of the same number in a dragon egg.
If you are using the eggs from the previous game, as I did, you will have to put the numbers into the eggs after the first game (don’t worry, it won’t take too long).
How to Play the Wings of Fire Party Game #2
First, have each person take an egg without opening it. If you played the previous game, you can tell everyone to find an egg that matches their dragon.
Once everyone has an egg, have them open it to reveal their number. Pull out the bin of prizes and hand out the prizes that match each person’s number.
Set a timer for a certain amount of time. We did 10 minutes, but you can play for however long you want. Make sure everyone knows that when the timer goes off, whoever is left in the game will keep the prize they have in front of them.
Give the birthday child the two dice to start and have them roll the dice. If they roll doubles, then they can choose one of two things.
They can either trade their prize with someone else or they can leave the game with the prize they have in front of them. If they do not roll doubles, they will pass the dice clockwise.
The next player will roll the dice and do the same. If you choose to leave the game, you get to keep the prize you have, and nobody can steal it from you again.
You can only do one of these per turn. For example, you can not trade with someone and then leave the game. You would have to wait until the next time you get doubles to leave the game.
The game is over when there is one person left or the timer goes off, whichever happens first.
Dragon Egg Prize Ideas
Here are some prize ideas you could use for this Wings of Fire dragon egg exchange game. Note that a lot of these prizes are geared toward girls ages 8-12 since a lot of these are ones we used for my daughter’s party.
- Rainbow Loom – Rainbow Loom kits are making a comeback! I found a bunch of small kits at Hobby Lobby that were perfect for prizes.
- Playing Cards – I got some Lilo & Stitch ones from Five Below but you could use any character cards.
- Needoh – These are the HOT toy right now, so unfortunately I was unable to snag any before my daughter’s party, but I definitely went looking for them. They would have been a great prize option and would have made the game even more competitive and interesting.
- Mini Squishmallows – These are so cute! I bought this pack off Amazon.
- Candy – You can pick up some bags of candy like this or a variety of full-size candy bars! The kids will love it.
- Resin Animals – The resin animals were such a hit during my daughter’s party. The kids were definitely trading these back and forth.
- Cute Sticky Pads – this is a cute stationary pack perfect for girls.
- Nail Polish – If you are having a girl party then this would be a great prize idea.
- Eraser Pals – Eraser pals are a popular collectible toy that the kids love. I found a cute dessert set at Hobby Lobby.
- Pop Funko – Five Below has quite a few different Pop Funko Collectibles.
- Stickers – These are perfect stationary and journaling stickers for kids.
- Spa Headband – I got this Tinkerbell spa headband for one of the prizes.
- Modeling Clay – This is a cool crafting item.
- Scented Markers – Smelly markers are always a great choice.
- Punching Pens – I found some punching pens like this at TJ Maxx and they surprisingly went pretty fast in the exchange game.
- Puzzle – I picked up a mac & cheese puzzle similar to this from Five Below.
- Wings of Fire Mystery Plush – Target sells the individual boxes but you could also just open the Amazon double pack up and use it as two different prizes.
- Tumbler – A tumbler would be a hit for girls ages 8-12
- Fused Bead Kit – My daughters have been loving fused beads lately, so I had to get a kit for a prize. I picked up a Squishmallow one from Michaels.
- Hair Clips – Some cute hair clips like this make a great prize for girls.
- Uno – They make so many different character versions of Uno like this Harry Potter-themed one.
- Monopoly Deal – I got this K Pop Demon Hunters one but they make a lot of different versions.
- Headbands – Another great prize for girls.
- Pop It Game – I thought this handheld game would be a fun prize for kids.
- Crochet Kit – These are becoming popular, and this Squishmallow one is super adorable.
- Flair Tip Pens – My kids and I both love these pens. The colors are so vibrant, and they don’t smear when writing with them.
- Journal – A journal is another prize idea for preteen girls.
- Dice Game – I found a fun Smarties Dice Roller Set at Five Below, but this Left, Center, Right game would also make a good prize.
- Cutie Cuffs – I picked up a Wings of Fire one from Target but there are many different characters you could get for these.
- Wings of Fire Book 1 – If you are throwing a Wings of Fire party, then the first book is a perfect prize.
- Gum – You can’t go wrong with candy or gum.
- Scrunchies – Here is another great one for a girl’s party.
Number Cards Printable
Here are the number cards to download and print. Make sure to print off two copies (one for the eggs and one for the prizes). While there are 30 cards on the printable, you will only need to cut out the number of kids/prizes you will have.
