In the past, I have made many different Halloween games such as this Halloween bingo, Halloween Scattergories, and my kids’ absolute favorite: these Halloween treasure hunt clues. This year, I decided to make a Halloween game that could be played at a party or in the classroom.

Left Right Game Setup
The very first thing you will need to do is determine how many kids will be playing the Halloween left right game. Then, you will need to get a prize, treat or gift for each player.
If you are hosting a party, you can also request that each child bring a small gift to the party ($10 or less). Once you have the gifts or treats, download the Halloween left right game printable at the bottom of this post. Then, you are all set and ready to play this game.

How to Play
To start the game, have all of the kids sit down in a circle. Have each player start the game holding a gift/treat. Next, begin reading the Halloween left right story.
Every time the word “left” is said, everyone passes their gift to the left. When the word “right” is read, everyone passes their gift to the right. When the story ends, everyone keeps the gift they are holding.
Halloween Left Right Story
There were only 3 days LEFT until Halloween, and 9-year-old Emma was LEFT with one little problem. She still hadn’t found the RIGHT costume to wear for her Halloween bash.
Emma decided to look around her house in hopes of finding one. She searched in the attic, in the closets, and even RIGHT under her bed. All she found was some dusty cardboard, an old box of candy hearts, and some miscellaneous craft supplies.
The next day she knew her time was running out. After her failed search around the house, she was LEFT with one other option. She would have to go RIGHT to the store and buy one. Emma pulled out all of the money LEFT in her piggy bank, hopped on her bike, and LEFT the house.
She went to the store RIGHT down the street and looked at what they had LEFT on their shelf. There were not many options LEFT to choose from. She tried on a witch costume, but it LEFT her feeling way too hot. Then, she tried a princess costume, but it seemed too boring.
The last option LEFT was a fairy costume. When she saw it, she was so excited she pulled it RIGHT off the shelf. It was perfect! She loved the sparkles and fairy wand. This one seemed just RIGHT for her, until she saw the price tag.
This one cost $50, and she only had $25. She LEFT the store feeling sad. There were only two days LEFT until Halloween, and she still had no costume to wear. When she got home, she told her mom the problem.
Her mom suggested that Emma should make her own costume. Emma always loved crafts but never thought to make her own costume. She wondered whether a handmade costume would turn out RIGHT. She decided not to worry about that RIGHT now and got to work.
Emma gathered her craft supplies and also the items she had found in her search the day before. She looked at all of her supplies and brainstormed the perfect costume. Emma decided to make a Candy Fairy costume.
Nobody would have that same costume at the party. First, she cut out two fairy wings using the cardboard she found RIGHT in the closet. Then, she covered them in purple paper and glitter.
Next, she glued on the too-old-to-eat candy hearts she found in the attic. Then, she made a candy wand using a wooden stick and ribbon and decorated it like a lollipop. Now all that was LEFT was to find the right dress, and she knew just the one.
On the night of Halloween, Emma put on her sparkly, rainbow tutu dress, her handmade fairy wings, and grabbed her candy wand. She looked RIGHT in the mirror and couldn’t believe how perfect her costume turned out.
She LEFT the house and walked RIGHT to the Halloween bash. As she walked, her fairy wings sparkled. When she arrived, her friends were in awe of her costume.
Everyone wanted to know where she had gotten her costume. Emma then realized something important. She hadn’t needed an expensive costume to be the best. All she needed was a little creativity, some things LEFT around the house, and a big imagination.
That night she won the costume contest and LEFT with a huge bag of candy. After all, who could resist giving a Candy Fairy some extra treats? As she walked RIGHT home with her prize, she smiled, knowing that making her costume turned out to be the sweetest idea of all.
