Are you looking for Fourth of July scavenger hunt clues for your kids? This is a fun Independence Day treasure hunt you have to try!

Fourth of July Scavenger Hunt

As a mom of three, I have learned over the years just how much kids love treasure hunts. Seriously, my kids are OBSESSED with solving and following clues that lead to a special surprise.

If you’ve followed my page at all, then you’ve probably seen one of many different scavenger hunts. In the past, I have created ones for many holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s and many, many more. If you’re interested you can check them all out here.

With summer and the Fourth of July quickly approaching, I decided to create a festive Fourth of July scavenger hunt. On this Fourth of July scavenger hunt, your child(ren) will solve 12 clues that lead them to different indoor items such as the front door, coffee pot, shoes, and more!

At the end of the treasure hunt be sure to leave them a red, white and blue treasure of some sort. If you aren’t sure what to leave them be sure to check out my list below for some inspiration.

Your kids are sure to have a good time with this treasure hunt.

This post is all about a Fourth of July scavenger hunt.

Directions

First, download the free Fourth of July scavenger hunt clues at the end of the post. Then, cut out each of the clues.

It can be helpful to number the clues on the back. I’ve found that numbering helps the kids when they are doing the hunt so they can be sure they’ve found the right clue because more than one clue may be in the same room.

After all the clues are numbered and cut out, set aside the first one. This is the clue that says “Hip Hip Hooray! It’s Independence Day! Here’s a special hunt for you to do. Where you’ll solve and follow each and every clue. If you’re up for this Independence Day fun. The table is where you’ll find clue number one.”

This first clue card you will not hide, instead you will give it to your kids for them to start the hunt.

Treasure Hunt Setup

To hide the clues, you’ll start with the 2nd clue. This clue will be hidden in the riddle’s location of the first clue (the table).

To sum it up, whichever clue you are hiding, you place it in the location of the previous clue. For example, the third clue will go in the location from the second clue, the fourth clue will go in the location from the third clue etc. You keep doing this pattern until you get to the last clue.

Some of the locations you may need to tape the clue up. It can be fun to use some Fourth of July-themed washi tape like this to do so.

The last clue card says “Because you solved each and every clue, an Independence Day treat is waiting for you. Find your surprise where you lay each night. Look under blankets, tucked out of sight.”

Fourth of July Scavenger Hunt ideas

You then would put whatever “treasure” you have for your child on their bed. You’ll probably want to put it under their blankets so they don’t see it when they are searching for other clues on the hunt.

I have the bed as the last location so that if you have multiple children they can do the treasure hunt together but then each of them can get their own treasure.

* To make life easier on yourself, I highly recommend pulling up this post when you go to hide the clues. That way, you can see the order of the clues and the answer to each one.
